Visiting the Anne Frank House is a moving experience. The museum preserves the secret annex where Anne wrote her diary. Be aware that tickets sell out months in advance. Photography is not allowed, and visiting requires respectful silence to honor the memory of the victims.
Tickets for the Anne Frank House cost €16 for adults and are available online. They are released every Tuesday for visits six weeks ahead and sell out quickly.
The museum entrance is around the corner at Westermarkt 20. A very useful update for readers: from 15 February 2025 to February 2028, there will be no trams running to the Westermarkt stop; visitors can take a tram to Dam Square, then walk about 10 minutes.
Highlights
Inside, visitors can see Anne’s original red-checked diary, the picture-covered walls of her room, and the original hinged bookcase that once concealed the entrance to the hiding place. It is only a 20-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station.
