Charters run sunrise to sunset — a full day on the water, not just the crossing. Clear customs on arrival, then spend the day at anchor over sandbars and reef, with the route built around what your group wants to see.

03Who it suits

Six yachts, from a nimble 38-foot day boat for a small group to a 70-foot flybridge that sleeps nine — picked from our partner fleet specifically because Bimini is already on their charter menu.

Planning your private boat from Miami to Bimini

Amsterdam Private Boat runs Bimini day charters year-round from Miami-area marinas. Here's what to expect before you book — the crossing, the paperwork, and what a day on the island looks like.

Miami to Bimini by boat: distance & crossing time

Bimini sits roughly 50 miles east of Miami across the Gulf Stream — about 45 nautical miles at the closest point. Crossing time depends on the boat: the fastest yachts in our fleet make it in as little as 90 minutes, while a more relaxed cruise runs closer to two hours each way.

What to expect on your day

Charters run sunrise to sunset. You depart early from a Miami-area marina — Miami Beach Marina, Haulover or Key Biscayne, depending on the boat — and your captain handles customs and immigration clearance on arrival in Bimini, a straightforward process on a private vessel. The route itself is fully customizable: tell your captain what you want the day to look like and they'll build it around your group, before the return crossing at sunset.

Entry requirements

Every guest needs a valid passport to clear Bahamian customs, and a visa if your nationality requires one for the Bahamas. Let us know everyone's nationality when you book so we can flag anything unusual ahead of time.

Things to do in Bimini

A sandbar stop at Radio Beach or Blister Bay, snorkelling the SS Sapona — a beached WWI-era concrete shipwreck three miles off the coast — lunch at a local overwater seafood restaurant, big-game fishing grounds a short run offshore, and Honeymoon Harbor if you want somewhere quieter. Every stop is optional — build the day around what your group wants.
