Quiet & Relaxed Nature
Once you're past the last bridges, the Amstel opens up into calm, wide water lined with grass banks, willows and open polder — a different rhythm from the city-centre grachten.
Countryside Cruise · Amstel River
Leave the busy city-centre canals behind. This cruise follows the Amstel River south into open, quiet countryside — past reed banks, polder landscapes, and single-standing scenic boathouses and villas.
Why this cruise
The Amstel River route is built for people who want the water without the noise — a slower boat, a wider horizon, and long stretches where the loudest thing you hear is a moorhen in the reeds.

Once you're past the last bridges, the Amstel opens up into calm, wide water lined with grass banks, willows and open polder — a different rhythm from the city-centre grachten.
02
The riverbanks are dotted with characterful, single-standing houseboats and waterside villas, each with its own garden, dock and view — no two alike.
03
With a minimum of 2 hours and the option to extend to 4, the cruise moves at your pace, not a fixed city-tour schedule.
The route
The boat departs from central Amsterdam and heads south, following the Amstel River as far as your chosen cruise duration allows — the longer the cruise, the further into the countryside you go.
The first stretch takes you past the city's grand Amstel-side architecture and the Magere Brug. After that, the river widens and the skyline drops away — this is where the cruise turns from sightseeing into a genuine countryside trip.
From here, the Amstel is flanked by open fields, grazing land and quiet side-channels. Boathouses and villas stand one at a time along the bank, spaced apart, each framed by its own patch of garden or reeds rather than packed in side by side.
Schematic route — actual distance covered depends on your chosen 2–4 hour duration.
